The Strategy Science Conference is the annual gathering of the community that publishes in and reads Strategy Science – a journal dedicated to ambitious, theoretically anchored work on the central questions of strategy. Each year a different host school carries the program forward.
The 9th annual Strategy Science Conference is hosted by the Leeds School of Business at the University of Colorado Boulder, and sponsored by the journal Strategy Science.
Two days of presentations on May 29 and 30, 2026, organized around twenty thematic sessions and ninety papers chosen from a competitive call. A doctoral consortium opens the conference on the evening of Thursday May 28. Two plenary sessions, one on the future of our profession and one on sustainability strategy, bookend the program.
Boulder sits where the high plains meet the Rocky Mountain foothills, 1,655 meters above sea level. We hope the change of altitude does what conferences are supposed to do: pull people out of their routines and into conversation.
A small, research-intensive program that places its graduates at top business schools. Doctoral students work closely with faculty on questions in strategy, entrepreneurship, innovation, and organization theory.

Faculty directory →Strategy Science is published by INFORMS as the field's premier outlet for ambitious, foundational research on strategy. The journal welcomes work that is theoretically grounded, methodologically rigorous, and willing to take on the central questions of how firms create and sustain value – across competitive, organizational, and institutional levels of analysis.
The conference is the journal's annual community gathering. The Editor-in-Chief and senior editorial board attend; many papers presented here move into the journal's review pipeline in the months that follow.
